Term 4 at Woodville

Well this year is certainly flying past - I am missing the Koobs - no such interest here yet but I do have a few possible team members. Only problem being that schools run out of money about now and we can't get anymore new books until next year. As usual, the voracious readers have read everything they liked already - OOOOH it is hard having to say no to requests. Welcome back to the real world.
2 wonderful things I have found out - 1 is a certain member of the Koobs is getting great reviews for her version of "Twilight" I think I now know a famous writer! Very cool to see talent and imagination with the EFFORT. Great stuff.
I found this article which pretty much sums up the joys of being a teacher librarian. Great author too, Gail Giles writes excellent YA thrillers. So cheers to all you budding writers out there.

Happy and Sad Day

Well well well - wot a day. On one hand I am rapt to be turning 50, going on holidays with good friends and a big party tomorrow. Happy gal I am. The only sad thing is that I am finishing at Marryatville and I won't get to see and chat and discuss and lend books to the fabulous KOOBs. These girls have been a sheer pleasure to meet and encourage - not that they need any. Some are mad at me for gouing - thank the Goddesses for blogs eh. A big thankyou to everyone involved with the Koobs.
Bye for now.

The Wonders of Web 2.0

Don't we all just LUV holidays. I like these winter ones because that there is no need to go out - excuse reading - the best place is to get cosy. I am an especially gifted holidayer - been doing them my whole life. Enuff. This year tho has been great - besides books, there's blogs, wikis, You tube, myspace, links..... I am absolutely rapt that now a book can inspire bands, clothes, movies, widgets, mum's reading YA, new blogs with updated features.... and RSS ..... and imbedded videos. Here is a great link to the Twilight phenomenon - now mums are getting in on the act !!

Half the time I can't remember how to do what I have just done whilst blogging, but, that's fine. It's fun and we can teach each other.
There has been quite a discussion amongst the KOOBs and others about whether a book is better than the movie. Nearly all the readers I know say 99% of the time it will be the book. .Here is a great site to check them out.

>Happy reading, movieing... and good on the girls who are happily blogging away - exciting stuff..

A Great time - Term 2

Well at this point I only have GOOD news. The KOOBs are going 4 it on their blog - just google "Koobians" and they are there about No 2. How Cooooool is that?
I do love working with smart, precocious students. Reb S made up a great new word today - something was "blaringly" obvious. Mmmmmm.

Like a lot of teenage girls all over the world, and many vampire book fans, most of the KOOBS are "obsessed" with this series. A classic love, action and trilogy series,The 4th book is due out in August, thefilm in December and the author, Stephanie Meyer here, is amulti-millionaress now, see

Welcome KOOBs

Our wonderful readers' group has named themselves the "KOOBs" - as they know their books backwards! How cool is that? I am looking forward to them adding reviews here soon

MHS "Readers club"

I am very happy to say we have a very talented and bookwise group who meet every Friday at lunch .... and often other times too. We all LOVE reading and because I can order the books in that they suggest, and they get to read all the latest first! Great for all of us.
We will post lists and reviews online here of books and authors we buy, in return the group gets extra marks for English!!

First day blogging

Well I must say that this isn't toooooo hard.
